Heartland POS Support
Heartland POS system down, terminal offline, payments declining or a printer not responding? Send us the details. Smart Payment Solutions helps you work out what is actually failing, what to prepare, and which support path you need, including when the issue has to go to official Heartland support.
How Smart Payment Solutions Helps with Heartland POS Support
Smart Payment Solutions is an independent POS and payment provider. We are not Heartland's official support desk. We help businesses running Heartland POS systems work out what is wrong, what to check first, and who should fix it: the vendor, the processor, or the setup itself.

Common Heartland POS Issues We Can Help Review
Most support requests start with something that stops checkout, order flow or the end-of-day routine. These are the groups we see most often:
Terminal and device issues: a station that will not start, a frozen screen, a terminal offline after a network change, a card reader that stops responding mid-shift.
Payment and batch issues: declines, a batch that did not settle, deposits that did not arrive, tips and refunds posting incorrectly, and questions about processing rates.
For mobile payment setups, see our Heartland Mobile Pay page.
Printer and order flow issues: receipt printer not printing, kitchen tickets not routing, the wrong printer assigned after a change to the setup.
Login, access and setup issues: staff who cannot log in, permissions after a role change, menu or catalog updates, a new device or a new location added.
Reporting and back-office issues: reports that do not match the till, inventory counts drifting, end-of-day totals that do not reconcile.
Send us what happened and when it started. That is usually enough to tell whether the fix is on your side, the vendor's, or the processor's.
Heartland Retail and Liquor Store Support
Retail counters break in different places than restaurants. Catalog and price updates that do not push to the register, barcode scanning that stops reading, inventory counts that drift, stock split across locations, and end-of-day totals that will not reconcile.
Liquor stores add their own: large SKU counts, case and bottle pricing, age verification prompts at checkout, and busy evening trade where a slow terminal costs real money.
If you run Heartland Retail POS or a liquor store setup, send us what the register is doing and what changed before it started. That is usually enough to tell whether it is a setting, a device or a data issue.
Heartland Tech Support
A Heartland POS setup is several connected parts: terminals, printers, card readers, network, payment settings, menu or catalog data, staff permissions and reporting. Most support calls go long because nobody has established which layer actually failed. Sorting that out first is usually the difference between a ten-minute fix and a lost shift,.
Collect this before you contact anyone. It is what every support desk asks for first, and having it ready cuts the call in half.
- Device or terminal name
- Error message or screen shown
- Payment or batch issue
- Printer or order flow issue
- Network connection status
- Staff access or login issue
- When the problem started
- A photo or screenshot of the error screen, if you can take one.
Who to Contact: Heartland, Your Processor, or Us
Some issues can only be handled by the vendor, because they involve merchant services, your merchant account, licensed software or hardware under warranty. Contact official Heartland support when:
- the problem affects your merchant account, funding or settlement;
- you need a hardware replacement under warranty;
- a software license, update or account-level setting has to be changed;
- you need account data that only the provider can release.
The Heartland support line published for POS customers is (888) 727-3078. Check the number on your merchant statement or in your account portal before calling, since vendor lines change. Remote support sessions, where a technician connects to your terminal, are run by the provider through their own remote support tool, not by us.
Contact Smart Payment Solutions when you are not sure whose problem it is, when the issue is with setup, hardware, printers, payment settings or processing rates, or when you want to know whether the current system is still worth keeping. Our line is (857) 236-0941.
If something breaks outside business hours, send us the details anyway: the issue summary will be ready by the time a desk picks it up.
